What is SolidCraft? It is an open-source parametric CAD program from Tangency Labs. At the time of writing (October 2026) the latest GitHub release was v0.16.2, and the project describes the software as early but usable for simple parts.

- The named developer is Tangency Labs.

What parametric CAD means
The part is driven by dimensions. Change a dimension and the geometry follows.
- A driving dimension is a size you set, such as a length or a diameter.
- Relationships tie that size to the rest of the part, so one edit does not leave the other geometry stale.
- You change the rule. The shape rebuilds from the rule.
- A direct mesh edit changes the surface you touched. It does not replay the earlier rules.
- Example: a plate length is 80 mm, then you change it to 100 mm. Anything driven by that length rebuilds. You do not remodel the plate by hand.
- SolidCraft is in that parametric category. The project's own scope line is "early but usable for simple parts."
Where it runs and how to start
Install the desktop build for your system, or use the browser version, then model a simple part.
- Windows builds cover x64, ARM64 and x86, as an installer and as a portable zip.
- macOS is one universal build for Apple silicon and Intel.
- Linux builds cover x86_64 and aarch64, as AppImage, deb, rpm, Flatpak, Snap and tar.
- FreeBSD is an x86_64 tar build.
- A browser version runs with no desktop install.
- solidcraft-cli is the command-line tool. A local MCP server is included.
- Installers were not signed yet at the time of writing (October 2026). Windows and macOS can ask you to confirm the first launch.
- On a public set of 76 reference parts, 75 results matched the project's checks.
